Hokkaido’s Oldest Arcade
Tanukikoji has been running since 1873, making it one of the oldest shopping arcades in Hokkaido. Today it stretches roughly 900 meters across seven covered blocks — which, in a Sapporo winter, is a very good thing.
How to Tackle It
Start at Block 1 near Odori and work east. Drugstores cluster in the middle blocks (tax-free counters everywhere), souvenir shops toward the east end, and the best food hides in the side alleys off Block 4 and 5.
