Beams Japan Shinjuku: A 7-Floor Guide & Tax-Free Guide

When you think of shopping in Tokyo, “Beams” is a name you’ll see often. But the Beams Japan flagship store in Shinjuku is on another level.

This is Beams Japan Shinjuku's outside

This isn’t just a clothing store; it’s a 7-story (B1F to 7F) “trend culture complex.” It’s a celebration of modern and traditional Japan, meticulously curated floor by floor. Whether you’re a guy or a girl, looking for high-end fashion or unique souvenirs, this is a must-visit.

Beams Japan Highlights

Just… So Much to Buy: One of the top “must-shop” spots in Tokyo for both men and women.
Multi-Level Shopping: It’s an entire 5-floor standalone building (plus B1F & 6/7F) dedicated to the brand, with 1F focusing on beautiful Japanese crafts.
Iconic Architecture: The entire building is a landmark in itself and a must-see in Shinjuku.

A Floor-by-Floor Guide to Beams Japan Shinjuku

The store is organized by themes on each floor, taking you on a journey through Japanese culture.

FloorConcept (Kanji)What to Find
B1F食 (Shoku)Food & Restaurant. A collection of specialty foods, sake from all over Japan, and a restaurant.
1F祭 (Matsuri)Festivals & Crafts. The perfect floor for souvenirs. Features traditional Japanese handicrafts and local artisan goods.
2F衣 (I)Apparel. The main collection. Features Beams’ main line, collaborations (like North Face Purple Label), and new arrivals.
3F眼 (Me)Eyes / Vision. A visual culture floor with art, pop-up exhibitions, and curated books.
4F趣 (Shu)Interests. A lifestyle floor with home goods, high-end camping gear, stationery, and more.
5F匠 (Takumi)Artisan. A gallery of traditional Japanese master crafts, including pottery, lacquerware, and knives.
6F-7FFormal Wear. Dedicated to men’s suits and formal attire.

The Pro-Tips: Why It’s a Must-Visit

  • The Selection: This is the best place to see all of Beams’ lines in one place: Beams (main), Beams Plus, Beams Boy, and more.
  • The Variety: It’s a perfect 50/50 split for men and women. The range is huge: clothing, bags, accessories, hats, shoes, glasses, and even toys.
  • The Payments: Don’t worry about cash. They accept Credit Cards, Debit Cards, and NFS Mobile Payments (like Apple Pay).

⚠️ The Critical Tax-Free Guide (Read This!)

This is the most important tip you need.

The Problem: You cannot get your tax refund at the cashier where you pay for your items.

The Solution:

  1. Pay for your items normally at the Beams register.
  2. Take your receipts and items to the B1F (Basement Floor).
  3. You must find a separate, central tax-free counter located in the same building’s B1F, about 200 meters away from the Beams store area.
  4. Be patient: It can be hard to find. We had to ask three different people. Look for “Tax-Free Counter” signs, not Beams signs.
